* Laurel Park has six (6) races (3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th, 9th, 10th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs on Friday is for Mostly Sunny skies with high temps in the mid-60s and just a 20% chance of isolated showers. Therefore the below selections are based on these races being run ON THE TURF.

Race 1

  1. #4 – Two Punch Too (15-1): $Longshot Play$ Only one in here who raced this far (9f)… finished 4th, works for me
  2. #1 – Back Scatter (3-5): Only time he showed early speed was in maiden breaker. Now you’d think…
  3. #2 – Einstein’s Theory (20-1): Takes biggest class drop of these plodders; 3 of 6 ITM on dirt w/o a “W”

Race 2

  1. #7 – Lostinthestars (8-5): Drops in for tag after just 2 starts, “Ham” Smith 26% w/this action
  2. #3 – Mister Smarty (5-2): Lost to #1 in R1 today by 6 last outing who stepped up to $15k & ran well
  3. #2 – Citation Star (9-5): Was hung out 3-wide on turns over speed favoring Tim surface; 7f helps

* Race 3

  1. #11 – Drago’s Best (3-1): Away since late Aug. but fired a bullet drill; should stalk the early speed
  2. #1 – Came Back (7-2): Tough assignment from the rail, not the place to break from in turf sprints @ Lrl
  3. #10 – High Bar (5-2): Decisive win up a level in 1st after Elamri reclaim; 5-2 fav. & up another level?

* Race 4

  1. #1 – Sprinklesmiddle Ez (6-1): Rail no big deal here because she is Lone Speed; should steal it
  2. #9 – Rapid Rhythm (4-1): 3rd race after layoff; cuts back to sprint where she’s 2 for 3 on turf
  3. #10 – Tanka (8-1): Scratched last week as entrymate ran 2nd @ 18-1 in N1X on turf; now her turn?

Race 5

  1. #4 – Blame Me (8-1): Huge drop & jock upgrade for owners who just want to win; no problem switching to dirt
  2. #7 – Chocolate Wildcat (6-5): Wins by 3 and for his efforts… gets gelded and drops! Beaten fav. previous 2
  3. #6 – Montana Storm (12-1): Boyce regains mount after near miss 1st off the bench; comes back at same level

* Race 6

  1. #5 –Magnum Opus (8-5): Bad luck w/ weather as he’s scratched the last 2 times entered due to “Off the Turf”
  2. #3 – Sugimoto (12-1): Bred for turf, away since Dec. to regroup/mature after offering nothing in 3 races
  3. #8 – Greg Rules Da (5-2): Been running evenly on turf going 5f v. MSW; in for Tag but questioning his will to win

* Race 7

  1. #5 – Follow the Kitten (8-1): Beaten favorite in local bow; drops 2 classes looking for 3rd win
  2. #6 – Racyn With Gracyn (10-1): Ran OK for new barn 1st time when taken off turf; improves on turf
  3. #11 – Cluain Meala (9-2): Leery of being in for tag after long string of StrAlw runs; Boyce stays is a plus

Race 8

  1. #9 – Dixie Deputy (3-1): *Best Bet* 2 for 2 at distance while never out of Exacta @ Lrl (4:2-2-0)
  2. #7 – Joni’s Wildcat (8-1): Mejias 1st time in irons will hustle this one to the front and hope to hold on
  3. #8 – Alluseeismytale (4-1): Gets preferred distance today after troubled trip going 7f behind top pick here

* Race 9

  1. #6 – Glenstal Abbey (7-2): Navarro GP shipper gave 2 game efforts since arriving; expect more of the same
  2. #2 – Golden Wheels (15-1): Putting faith in 10lb. bug to grab early lead cuz there’s not much other speed here
  3. #9 – Hurricane Creek (10-1): Jump in class didn’t work out; won & lost a nose recently v. similar

* Race 10

  1. #14 – Devilish Love (5-2): Was pre-entered in MD Million Turf and Ladies, but goes here; not much softer
  2.   #3 – Kids Tuition (10-1): Always in the mix sprinting on turf; jock knows how to ride this one
  3.   #9 – Lake Sebago (20-1): 1st try on turf; away since Mar. but like work tab; reality is Robb 0 for 21 1st turf

Race 11

  1. #1 – Onemorsaturdaynite (4-1): Runner-up when PT fav. at same level; Toledo/Pino are 2 for 5 at meet
  2. #4 – Wild Inthe Streets (4-5): On paper she’s the best of this poor lot, but the  race isn’t run on paper
  3. #9 – Amame (8-1): Thinking Karamanos can get a bit more out of this 4-year-old that others couldn’t
