* Laurel Park has five (5) races (4th, 7th, 8th, 10th, 11th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs on Saturday is for Partly Cloudy skies with high temps in the low-70s and a 0% chance of precipitation. The below selections are based on races being run on “FAST” main dirt track; as for turf, only the eighth and tenth races remain on.

Race 1

  1. #7 – Consistency (7-2): Consistently been ITM w/ Boyce in the irons; has best last out speed fig
  2. #6 – Curlin’s Kid (5-2): Magee runners 26% 2nd off layoff; beaten fav. while encountering some traffic
  3. #1/1A – Hero’s Notion/Royal Cavier (6-1): Both should run & have equal chance of winning IMHO

Race 2

  1. #5 – Toby Who (8-1): Rank outsider has been double-digit odds last 5 tries; Evans could get her home
  2. #3 – Princess Emma Rose (5-2): Runner-up 1st after claim for Magee; tries same level going extra panel
  3. #4 – Scatajawea (8-1): Fresh off N2L win @Tim, SHOW horse came back to win yesterday; Potts/Thorpe 28%

Race 3

  1. #2 – Start Jumping (6-1): Great prep race 1st off layoff, late run in sprint when he’s won 3 of 8 at routes
  2. #8 – Twocubanbrothersu (1-1): Been cleaning up @ Del in Alw5000s, but will get pressed early here
  3. #4 – Perfect Wind (12-1): Pen shipper is 0 for 1 @ Lrl but gets class relief; only class dropper besides #8

* Race 4– OFF TURF

  1. #8 – Secret Diary (10-1): After 3 grass sprints filled w/ traffic issues, stretches out & gets jock upgrade
  2. #1 – Shar Shar (4-1): IRE-bred came to US looking for greener pastures; still maiden after 3 ITM @ Pen
  3. #13 – Dancing Lucy (5-1): Seems to fit this level for graduating and cut back to one mile helps even more

Race 5

  1. #9 – Vasten (2-1): Added blinkers on drop but hung; tries similar right back; 3rd off layoff
  2. #5 – Love to Prospect (9-2): Owner/trainer Campbell jumped gun w/ class jump after near miss at this level
  3. #2 – Parseghian (6-1): Seems past issues have been worked out as marked improvement past 3; has back class

Race 6

  1. #4 –Sweet Liam (8-1): Not many Pen shippers succeed @ Lrl, let alone FTS but Kreiser 27% w/ them
  2. #1 – Bolster (12-1): $560k Kee purchase stopped on a dime in Aug. debut @ Mth; trust trainer to right ship
  3. #6 – Tough Teddy (5-2): Nice showing in MD-bred minor stakes earning bet Brisnet# (84) of this group by far

* Race 7– OFF TURF

  1. #2 – Sensible Match (8-1): Street Sense FTS has nice work tab; does break from rail, should be quick
  2. #8 – Dare to Be (9-5): Failed by a head as PT fav. & Best Bet last start; 3rd start a charm?
  3. #7 – Don’s Girl (6-1): Last 2 have been alarmingly bad; giving slop & route as an excuse

* Race 8

  1. #9 – Reflecting (3-1): Has top Prime Power# in this event; when in doubt go w/ ”Shug” (9:4-0-3)
  2. #1 – Diana’s Vendetta (20-1): Signs of finding that back class with a 94 Brisnet# in most recent
  3. #11 – Blameshifter (15-1): Perfect prep going 6f off 17 mo. layoff showing late interest; solid #’s @ 9f

Race 9

  1. #7 – Grecian Prince (3-1): *Best Bet* Discovered in 1 mile $100k Sapling he’s a sprinter; catches early speed
  2. #5 – Drexler (2-1): “Clyde” scratched yesterday to go here; was MSW win that good or competition that bad?
  3. #3 – Thunder Pass (5-2): Caught a sloppy track in Laurel Futurity; expect to see him on or close to lead this time

* Race 10

  1. #5 – Irish Lute (15-1): $Longshot Play$ Turf debut; if synthetic translates to turf, that 98 in G2 is huge
  2. #2 – Tupancy Links (20-1): another turf debut in 15th career start; has breeding & running style to win
  3. #9 – Estrada’s Girl (6-1): Gross overlay @ 34-1 got up by nose; best turf Brisnet# (99) towers over foes

* Race 11 — OFF TURF

  1. #8– Skipperdee (8-1): 1st after claim a live angle w/ Potts (22%); needs to find that maiden breaking form
  2. #6 – Justice for Sheena (7-2): Switch to turf and going long smart move after claim; keeps improving
  3. #4 – Your Pace Or Mine (8-1): Still learning but prefers grass; drops after “not horrible” run when 75-1
