* Laurel Park has six (6) races (3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 10th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs on Friday is for Partly Cloudy skies with high temps in the mid-70s and a 40% chance of “some isolated showers” in late afternoon/early evening. Oh ye of little faith! The below selections are based races being run ON FIRM TURF and a FAST main dirt track.

Race 1

  1. #7 – Blufield (9-2): Haynesfield FTS for A. Dutrow gets Lasix and has evenly spaced works @ Fai
  2. #5 – Vivacious V. V. (2-1): Stidham (32%) w/ Blinkers Off angle; MD debut; couldn’t cut it in SoCal
  3. #1 – If the Crown Fits (6-1): Well backed in both starts, but failed badly as PT fav. in last; Ness/Gallardo 33%

Race 2

  1. #2 – Finn’s Quest (9-5): Turf didn’t pan out after Rudy Rod claim 2 back for $35k; has faced much better
  2. #3 – Igotthediscoinme (5-2): Danced to victory at this level in N2L when claimed, improves with this barn
  3. #4 – Doherty (6-1): If he’s allowed to get an easy lead, might just take this field gate-2-wire for nice DOUBLE

* Race 3

  1. #9 – Golden Jason (5-1): Last time on grass he won @ GP v. better; not stepping up, actually down
  2. #1 – High Bar (4-1): Could be a great reclaim… lost for $25k 4 back; reclaimed last outing for $7,500
  3. #5 – Indian Bucks (12-1): Looking for lightning to strike 2nd after layoff; owns best turf Brisnet# (92)

* Race 4

  1. #10 – Hug a Tree (6-1): Russell helped wake him up w/ fine runner-up effort v. many foes in here today
  2. #4 – Adding Alpha (15-1): Recent turf speed fig doesn’t suggest it, but been facing way better than Alw5000s
  3. #8 – Casual Elegance (12-1): Like the cut back after going long on turf again; best of 2 on card for G. Sacco

* Race 5

  1. #8 – Trust But Verify (6-1): Motion also has #10 (7-2), not buying it; I’ll go w/ FTS for deep-pockets (Klaravich) stable
  2. #7 – Tasit (5-1): Was my LSPOD (8-1) as FTS, went off 5-2 (go figure) & SHOWed; look for improvement 2nd outing
  3. #6 – Flaming Humor (4-1): After two runner-up efforts going 7½; should love two-turns based on breeding

Race 6

  1. #2 –Star of the Forest (3-1): First Jacobson runner of the meet, only entry on the card, top Prime Power#
  2. #1 – Nicki Flash (12-1): No takers when dropped off win & won again; protected today, stretch out no problem
  3. #3 – Sterlings America (12-1): Just 2 for 20 but has responded positively to change of conditioner

* Race 7

  1. #2 – Jo Way Java (5-1): Stepping up in class but earned best turf Brisnet# in this field last outing
  2. #4 – Fasque (20-1): McCarthy takes reins; troubled trip in last
  3. #7 – Ted’s Memoires (9-2): Hopefully doesn’t get washed off turf; cut back to sprint key; catches early speed

* Race 8

  1. #6 – Janine Melnitz (5-1): Been closing ground late going 5f on grass; extra 1/16th should help
  2. #4 – Smoke Signals (7-2): Clement ships this one down from Sar; been away since May to regroup
  3. #11 – Ready Now (6-1): Why has this City Zip filly been going long? Against boys last time?

Race 9

  1. #5 – Baychimo (7-2): *Best Bet* Wide on turns & gaining in G3 Iroquois, 7 behind one of the top 2 yr olds
  2. #11 – Professor Zoom (6-1): Adding Blinkers and/or switch to dirt did wonders in 2nd start @ Sar
  3. #10 – Gotsomemojo (6-1): Professional debut going 1 mile on grass @ AP; likes local dirt; bullet work

* Race 10

  1. #13 – Dear Fay (5-1): Shippers from Cby haven’t fared well but hard to deny turf record (13:5-2-4)
  2. #14 – Comedia (8-1): Deep Closer needs quick early fractions; needs clean trip;
  3. #15 – Sassy Little Cat (20-1): Added blinkers & cut back in distance last outing; hard to ignore

Race 11

  1. #6 – With Wonder (8-1): $Longshot Play$ 1st after claim; Adds blinkers, has improved in A.M.
  2. #3 – O Reeley (7-2): Tend to avoid 1 for 27 types, but barn change (2 for 5 2nd after claim) should help
  3. #8 – Aruban Truth (6-1): Hard to gauge based on troubled turf effort of the bench; leery about drop
