[su_heading size=”21″ align=”left”]Analysis[/su_heading]

* Laurel Park has two (2) races (7th, 9th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs on Saturday is for Mostly Cloudy skies with high temps in the low-50s and 75% chance of “heavy rain”. Considering the region received plenty of rain this week, the below selections are based on those races being taken OFF the TURF and the main track condition being SLOPPY or MUDDY at the very least.

Race 1

  1. #6 – Real Awesome (6-1): Wheels back at same level on a 2 race win streak, prior to that was 2 for 26
  2. #5 – Canal Street (4-1): Got SHOW in two recent off track tries v. better; must respect McCarthy/Ness
  3. #3 – Half Strike (4-1): Has never been tested on an off track, bloodlines say he’ll love it

Race 2

  1. #7 – Open Rebellion (8-1): Appears to be only one in here who is willing to get lead sprinting; dangerous
  2. #6 – Cracker Jack Dad (6-1): Been away since March, connections take advantage of Waiver Claiming rule
  3. #1 – Compulsive (6-5): He’s the only class dropper in here, 3rd consecutive drop just trying to get a win

Race 3

  1. #4 – Don’s Girl (5-1): Subscribing to the “1st time C. Evans 0ff” angle for this gal; has had trouble in last 3
  2. #1 – Moon Virginia (8-5): Got a nice Brisnet# (70) when 4th in minor stakes @ Del; will have co. vying for lead
  3. #3 – Street Miz (5-2): Maiden took on the boys in the Jamestown last week; too quick a turn-around? Adds Blks

Race 4

  1. #2 – Heavenly Encore (5-2): Keeps dropping in class since maiden win/claim; fits with these
  2. #3 – Clem Gem (6-1): Last on turf was a head-scratcher 2 months after breaking maiden on turf
  3. #4 – Midnight Ball (7-2): Back on main oval after sub-par turf try; bullet work over “good” track

Race 5

  1. #4 – Tazmanian Charlie (5-2): Year ago SHOWed in $100k Laurel Futurity; could be a bargain claim
  2. #7 – Whisky Rock (2-1): Toss initial turf try in last outing; should be quickest from the gate but has “2nd-itis”?
  3. #8 – More Zen Ready (15-1): Been turfing entire 7 race career; gets sloppy track which should help

Race 6

  1. #7 –Bob’s My Uncle (3-1): Iannotti looking for first win of meet (0 for 13); not cleanest of trips in last
  2. #8 – Justthewayitis (4-1): Not a bad effort on appropriate drop; Russell stays and slop will help
  3. #1 – Jelani’s Causeway (10-1): Drops and gives main oval another try; hoping slop pedigree comes out

* Race 7  –  OFF THE TURF

  1. #8 – Magnum Opus (5-2): *Best Bet* Speedy when sprinting on turf or dirt; serious gate-2-wire threat
  2. #1/1A – Towpath/Barter (2-1): Will be bitter if both scratch due to off turf; both should handle slop
  3. #7 – Victory Slide (15-1): 10 lb. bug girl Francois can ride; might try to challenge top pick early

Race 8

  1. #3 – Compass Stone (5-2): Stidham brought decent crop of runners from AP; here’s one to fear
  2. #1 – Perfectly True (9-5): On the shelf since Dec. ’14; nice work tab @ Prx; catch him if you can
  3. #6 – Twelve Stone (5-1): Just 3 for 38 but 1 for 5 on off track w/ 4 ITM; needs a pace meltdown

* Race 9  –  OFF THE TURF

  1. #5 – Noteworthy Peach (8-1): $Longshot Play$ Last seen in the afternoon getting 2nd in Tesio @ Pim; love the mile works
  2. #10 – Troubled Waters (8-1): Stretching out from sprints to a mile suited him well; 3:1-1-1 on off track
  3. #13 – Classic Brew (15-1): Better since adding blinkers; runner-up to him came back yesterday to win N1X

Race 10

  1. #10 – Humorous Chant (7-2): Away since June ’14, shows just 1 work this year?! Corrales is a sly one
  2. #2 – We Miss Barbara (10-1): Mejias will get this gal to the lead, might be push but should hang tough
  3. #6 – Buffed (6-1): 5 y.o. maiden w/ just 6 starts; on bench since Jan. but shows a nice work tab
