[su_heading size=”21″ align=”left”]Analysis[/su_heading]

* Laurel Park has five (5) races (1st, 3rd, 5th, 8th, 10th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs on Friday is for Mostly Cloudy skies with high temps in the low-50s and 75% chance of “heavy rain”. Considering the region received plenty of rain earlier in the week, the below selections are based on those races being taken OFF the TURF and the main track condition being SLOPPY or MUDDY at the very least.

* Race 1 – OFF THE TURF:

  1. #9 – Sioux Appeal (10-1): $Longshot Play$ MN-bred been racing v. state breds @ Cby; 1 or 3 w/ a win over OFF TRACK
  2. #1 – Officer Buns (5-1): Should get to the lead from the rail; might have enough in tank off layoff to win
  3. #6 – Away to Me (6-1): Invader from PA won at this distance on a “good sealed” track

Race 2

  1. #2 – Goyle (2-1): 3rd at this level 2 back as runner-up was next out winner; 2nd last time w/ blinkers added
  2. #5 – Cute Deputy (12-1): Got reality check in debut for MCL $30k; drops; distance may suit her better
  3. #6 – Anthem Singer (7-5): Sh-t the bed as PT fav @ Sar in debut; $60k purchase drops to $14k for 2nd start

* Race 3 – OFF THE TURF:

  1. #9 – Command Control (4-1): Took a year off after sub-par debut on turf; gets Lasix; nice work tab
  2. #10 – More Front (9-2): Clememt’s only entry on Lrl card; good sign if he still runs when off turf
  3. #7 – Kaitain (6-1): Away since March after 2 third place finishes sprinting; gate-2-wire candidate

Race 4

  1. #1 – Miss Speak (5-2): Add blinkers; drops back to level D. Capuano claimed her for 3 back when 2nd
  2. #4 – Lindyhop (4-1): Likes Lrl surface (7:3-0-1) but loves an off track (6:4-0-1); rough start last outing
  3. #5 – Smooth Approach (5-1): Last victory came at this distance, level and on a “good” track

* Race 5 – OFF THE TURF:

  1. #6 – Ted’s Memories (7-2): *Best Bet* Took a ton of early $$$ in last outing; stumbled & lost jock at the start; Ouch!
  2. #11 – Splitter (10-1): MTO entry; ne will scratch, but like both; #1 for back-class; #1A distance
  3. #3 – Rumblin Kyle (6-1): Runner-up twice in 3 off track tries; earned best Brisnet# in slop

Race 6

  1. #5 –Charlie’s Darlin (6-1): Best of 4 races was most recent in slop; win it for Mr. Bender – R.I.P.
  2. #7 – Tygra (5-1): Edged out top pick for SHOW purse when 5-2 PT fav.; 3rd time could be a charm
  3. #6 – To Blave (3-1): Not the smoothest start to of his racing career, but looked professional late

Race 7

  1. #6 – To Dare (5-1): Overwhelmed MSW foes here when shipped down from NY; Morley tough (3:2-1-0)
  2. #8 – I’m Mr. Blue (2-1): Never OTB in 3 races on off track (3:1-0-2); always in the mix
  3. #9 – Magritte (5-1): Failed as PT fav. in last two outings; cutback to one mile & surface should help

* Race 8 – OFF THE TURF:

  1. #8 – Wild Woo Who (8-1): Fresh off maiden win sprinting on turf; bred to go long & handle off track
  2. #4 – Broad Moon (10-1): Traffic in grass try @ Pen; should be able to compete v. those not scratched
  3. #11 – Wolftrap (10-1): Runner-up here v. in same off the turf situation; no reason he shouldn’t improve

Race 9

  1. #9 – Traffic Light (5-2): Jock Bisono down from Prx just to ride this guy who’s 3 for 6 on off track
  2. #5 – Reveron (7-2): 6 y.o. who was runner-up in G1 FL Derby gets Lasix 1st time after 20 mo. layoff
  3. #4 – Connemara Coast (5-1): Loves Lrl (9 of 10 ITM); distance and off track makes him a threat

* Race 10 – OFF THE TURF:

  1. #1A – Thunder Lord (8-1): MTO part of entry earned his best Brisnet# of career on off track
  2. #10 – Hard Drive (12-1): 0 for 23 on FAST track, 3 for 5 on OFF track… nuff said!
  3.   #7 – Court Band (10-1): 10 y.o. makes 100th career start, would be appropriate to win it
