[su_heading size=”21″ align=”left”]Analysis[/su_heading]

* Laurel Park has six (6) races (4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th) scheduled, led to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs on Saturday is for Partly Sunny skies with high temps in the mid-80s and no chance of precipitation. Therefore, the below selections are based on those races being run ON the TURF.

Race 1

  1. #1 – Gig Em (7-2): *Best Bet* Fresh off of N3L victory; has been in Exacta 6 of 9 career races
  2. #6 – Blimey (2-1): Needs to get to the lead to win; not sure Gig Em will let him
  3. #4 – Island Sunset (3-1): Hasn’t seen winners’ circle since 2013, but today’s the day?!

Race 2

  1. #4 – Sir Orinoco (9-2): Away 3 months but goes for 3rd consecutive win; one to catch
  2. #2 – Team Tim (2-1): Earned best Brisnet# v. MD-breds last time; bounces or duplicates it
  3. #5 – Take Achance On Me (15-1): Faced the best of the 2 yr olds in MD; makes 3 yr old debut

Race 3

  1. #1 – Inspired Voyage (2-1): Beat absolutely nothing @ Tim, but ran like a bat outta hell
  2. #6 – O Reeley (9-5): M/L fav.? Really?! 1 for 26 lifetime, 0 for 13 @ Lrl… more like “Oh Really?!”
  3. #4 – Chocklit E Clare (10-1): Showed late interest going 4f 1st time in career; prep for this one?

* Race 4 – G2 Commonwealth Cup

  1. #1 – El Jefe Grande (20-1): $Longshot Play$ NY shipper is only entry for trainer Abigail Adsit; Mike Luzzi gets the assignment a week after getting his first victory back from injury, on this very turf course; should get the 9 furlongs and with a clean trip could light up the toteboard in graded stakes debut
  2. #5 – Up With Birds (9-5): Winless since July ’14 (i.e. last 6 races); seems not to have recovered from trip to the Far East; 9 furlongs is his best distance (4:2-1-0); this will be 10th straight graded stakes which makes him by far the class of the field turf
  3. #2 – Mr Speaker (8-5): Looking at his turf races, he prefers a turf course with some “give” in it (good or soft); considering not a drop of rain has fallen over the past 6 days, the turf should be “firm.”  Still, Shug’s been in-the-money (4:2-0-2) with all of his shippers to Laurel this meet, and this one should make it 5 for 5

* Race 5

  1. #4 – Money Fan (12-1): Turf debut after 26 career races? Has pedigree and the right jock
  2. #3 – Super Chunky (3-1): That last race will make your eyes bleed; Steep drops but Russell stays
  3. #11 – High Bar (5-1): 7 y.o. steep drop coming off 2 mo. layoff, but Wolfendale’s 32% w/ these

Race 6

  1. #7 –Uptown Indy (4-1): Low level maidens usually don’t pass others; she’ll be on the lead
  2. #8 – Another Seven (8-5): Only dirt race was nearly 3 years ago in MSW, lost by 18
  3. #2 – Noel’s Irish Eyes (10-1): 1st dirt race after 2 on turf; a chance on drop alone

* Race 7

  1. #12 – Justlookatmenow (3-1): 2nd of 2 entries on card for Weaver w/ J.L. Ortiz in irons; looks good
  2. #5 – Aftermarketspoiler (7-2): Stidham Chi-town shipper is just one of many ready to run/win here
  3. #6 – Pop of Color (4-1): Morley a perfect 2 for 2 @ Lrl; this one should have early lead, may not quit

* Race 8

  1. #5 – Unseen (10-1): Ran best last out turf Brisnet# when a rallying 5th in 1st race of ‘15; should improve
  2. #3 – Flyingtobechilders (6-1): Best efforts have come w/ Boyce in the irons; 2 of 6 on Lrl lawn
  3. #13 – Last Heartbreaker (10-1): Chased Ben’s Cat in PA Gov Cup; last 2 turf figs among the best in here

* Race 9 – G2 Commonwealth Derby

  1. #5 – Force the Pass (6-5): Simply the class of the field; had a legitimate excuse (broke in air; 5-wide) when failing as the 3-2 favorite in the G1 Secretariat; gets perfect stalking trip and pounces on early leaders in mid-stretch to win in a hand ride; run don’t walk to the betting windows if you can get 1-2 or better
  2. #3 – Great Dancer (8-1): Hasn’t reached his full potential IMHO; though taking a big step up from N1X win, the distance fits him perfectly and gets a favorable pace setup to come flying in the final furlong
  3. #1 – Go Around (5-2): Seeking improvement off that graded stakes debut when 3rd as the 2-1 second choice; needs to get a smart ride from Pimentel as this Mott runner is a tad better than the Chad Brown entry (#8 – Fundamental)

* Race 10

  1. #7 – Lake Natron (6-1): 3rd in debut 11 months ago; on shelf since, adds Lasix, Matz looking to break Lrl maiden
  2. #4 – Moon Over Paris (5-2): Bridesmaid in both turf efforts, Motion gets J.L. Ortiz to ride
  3. #6 – Rapid Repair (4-1): Failed as 2-1 2nd choice on Del turf going 9f; nice work tab leading up to this one
