[su_heading size=”21″ align=”left”]Analysis[/su_heading]

* Laurel Park has seven (7) races (1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th) scheduled, led to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs on Saturday is for Mostly Cloudy skies with high temp near 80 and 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms in the late afternoon. Therefore, the below selections in are based on those races being run ON the TURF.

* Race 1

  1. #6 – High Above Georgia (5-2): Lael Stables buys turf runners & debut was promising; one to beat
  2. #7 – Candy Man Can (20-1): Has bounced back from a clunker in the past; toteboard will give a clue
  3. #9 – Virden Corinthian (9-2): 1st time in for Tag; OTB in all 3 starts on dirt, twice as PT fav.; turf works

Race 2

  1. #1 – Twin Six (7-2): *Best Bet* Pen shipper will get a great set-up as majority of foes have early speed
  2. #6 – Liam’s Song (8-5): Has flourished (8:4-2-1) in Rosenthal’s barn since claim; goes for 3rd straight “W”
  3. #5 – Stolen Love (5-2): Only one win at distance from 10 tries, but has beaten M/L fav.; tougher task today

* Race 3

  1. #9 – La Reine’s Gem (8-1): Late rally at same level abruptly halted in traffic; clean trip gives him a shot
  2. #12 – Retire Fifty Five (5-2): Beaten fav. in last on best turf effort drops a notch, seeks 1st win on grass in 8th try
  3. #3 – Daystrike (4-1): Claimed & steps back up for Dilodovico (21%) after tough trip; leery of just one work since July

Race 4

  1. #3 – I’m Mr. Blue (5-2): 4x winner while all others except #5 have only beaten maidens; stalking trip gets “W”
  2. #1 – Congrats to Ken (15-1): Fresh off Leatherbury claim; makes dirt debut after 7 turf efforts; Adds Lasix
  3. #8 – T Sizzle (5-1): Versatile (turf & dirt) but lone victory came here on dirt; should improve in 1st dirt 2-turn effort

* Race 5

  1. #3 – Ted Memoires (9-2): Field lacks what only he’s got: Early Speed! Should improve for Magee (26%) 2nd after claim
  2. #10 – Wolftrap (12-1): 1st OTB turf finish in latest came w/ an excuse; journeyman L. Mejias will make noise @ Lrl
  3. #1 – Dynaformersrequest (5-1): Tossing recent dull effort @ Mth as an anomaly; has top turf Brisnet# in here

* Race 6 Lady Baltimore Stakes

  1. #1 –Interrupted (4-1): 3 for 3 on Lrl grass w/ Rispoli in irons whose only mount on card is this gal; she’ll have plenty of pace to run down late; added blinkers in last… result a “W”
  2. #2 – Fasnacloich (7-2): Can boast best turf Brisnet# at distance when she destroyed field (incl. #1 & #4) in minor stakes @ Del 3 back; concern is OTB in 3 on Lrl turf
  3. #7 – Red Hot Tweet (15-1): On the shelf since Oct. no problem as she has turned in her best efforts 1st off layoff; 2 of 5 at distance on turf plus 3: 0-2-1 @ Lrl makes her an attractive price play

* Race 7 Selima Stakes

  1. #8 – Un Po Di Vino (5-1): Found 6f on WO synthetic a bit too far to carry her speed; grass debut here should be another promising effort as she’s by super turf sire More Than Ready
  2. #1 – Azuma Mura (20-1): Bred for turf; won debut while handling traffic very professionally; #1 hole hasn’t been kind to turf sprinters @ Lrl in ’15 but Russell, among best in MD jock colony, gets the call
  3. #3 – Table Jumper (8-1): Blew the shoes off competition in debut on dirt; runner-up was next out winner; love the work tab since, especially introduction to turf as final tune-up

* Race 8 Laurel Futurity Stakes

  1. #4 – Split (5-1): Huge improvement in 2nd career start/turf debut victory when sent off PT fav.; has tactical speed to let the abundance of early speed meltdown in deep stretch
  2. #6 – Thunder Pass (7-2): Nice debut win on dirt as the runner-up 4¼ clear of 3rd came back to win next outing; son   of Street Sense should move forward in initial turf try
  3. #2 – Mid Life Crisis (9-2): Buried in G2 Saratoga Special after debut win @ Del; lack of rider assignment makes one wonder if he’s the weaker of Motion’s two in spite of M/L odds

* Race 9 Laurel Dash Stakes

  1. #8 – Spring to the Sky (4-1): Only runner in here to earn a triple-digit Brisnet# on turf; excuses in last 2 starts @ Sar; trainer Bruce Brown not shipping down for crab cakes & gets M. Luzzi to takes the reins
  2. #4 – Night Officer (5-1): Gave Ben’s Cat all he could handle in Mr. Diz; gets his best distance (6: 3-0-2) and never OTB in 5 efforts on Lrl grass course; Boyce staying on is a plus
  3. #6 – Blameshifter (12-1): 7 y.o. has 18 career turf efforts but all routes & makes 1st start in over 17 months, so why does he have a shot? Impressive work tab going 5f & 6f throughout August and faced tougher in FL

Race 10

  1. #3 – Honest Dude (8-1): $Longshot Play$ House horse adds blinkers; like time off after so-so debut to regroup
  2. #7 – Charlie’s Darlin (7-2): Bred up & down to go 2-turns; gets first opportunity to do so in 4th start
  3. #5 – Tygra (3-1): 1st race since being REPORTED a gelding; Flaw w/ system? No way he was gelded since last race (Aug. 23rd) and recorded a workout on Sep. 2nd & 8th?!
