* At the Timonium Fair Grounds ALL RACES are contested on a 5/8 mile dirt oval. Forecast for the northern Baltimore suburb on SATURDAY is for Mostly Sunny skies with temps in the low-80’s and just a slight chance of precipitation. Therefore, selections are based on the track condition being FAST.
Race 1
- #4 – Cross Match (6-1): She’s 1 of 2 dropping in class trying to break maiden; lone dirt effort v. better
- #2 – Positivo (7-5): The other class dropper who might be distance challenged; vulnerable M/L fav.
- #3 – Dream Brew (5-2): Will need to start late rally earlier with cut back in distance
Race 2
- #6 – Mountain Man (6-5): Gate-2-wire maiden winner in last who beat a next out winner by 12½
- #4 – Shenandoah (9-5): Could take advantage of leg weary foes in final strides; last 2 not bad
- #1 – Who Stole My Sock (6-1): Best of the rest who will run on late to hit the board… figuratively
Race 3
- #6 – Dr. Drew (5-2): Can stalk the early speed and pounce on them late as they get leg weary
- #2 – Escrow Kid (2-1): Beaten fav. in last but second best by far; owns top Brisnet Prime Power#
- #5 – Peppermint Prince (8-1): Been turfing since back in Cox’s barn; better on dirt, distance suits
Race 4
- #3 – Goldtonic (8-1): $Longshot Play$ Solely on the fact this gal raced in NY and has only lost/raced twice
- #2 – Oohlala (7-5): More like OMG! 0 for 17, runner-up once, making 13th start of the year
- #5 – Behind the Times (9-5): My eyes are bleeding! She’s 0 for 25 & 2nd Time for a beer
Race 5
- #5 – Alluseeismytale (9-5): The Big T TV gal Gina owns & trains this one, she better have him on top
- #6 – Island Sunset (9-2): Game second last week here; trainer/owner Corrales entering live ones
- #1A – Victory Courts (8-5): Poor gelding, from CD to Tim; Wants no part of entrymate (#1)
Race 6
- #3 –Word Racer (3-1): *Best Bet* Appears to be regaining old form; 2 he beat in last came back to win next out
- #1 – Q’s Jack (5-1): Has done well at this level in the past; won lone try over Tim oval; gate-2-wire threat
- #7 – Bluegrass Fox Trot (3-1): Only natural dirt in ’15 was a victory; Potts having good meet; Thorpe not so much (0 for 23)
Race 7
- #2 – Sharprado C S (2-1): Appropriately named, he’s sharp from the gate in last; Runco’s (26%) only entry
- #7 – Victor Newman (8-1): Very quick on the grass; the same on dirt going 4f & he’ll notch win #1
- #4 – Real Strike (8-1): Salzman filly taking on the boys; fired a bullet (:36) @ Lrl on Sep. 1st; that’s how she rolls
Race 8
- #3 – I Just Wanna Win (6-5): And it’s likely she will; destroyed lesser on huge class drop
- #1 – Pride of Wilko (6-1): 3rd race after layoff angle here; needs pace meltdown from abundance of speed
- #4 – Hereshecomesagain (2-1): “…When she’s dancing ‘neath the starry sky”; Add Blks; 1st start for D. Capuano
Race 9

- #3 – Normal Practice (7-2): Reclaim by M. Pino but caught an off track v. better last outing
- #4 – Richard Croy (9-2): Huge class drop but barn had similar runners other day and just missed
YESTERDAY’S NEWS
- Friday September 4th, Race Day 4 of the MD State Fair meet at Timonium had 4 winners from 8 races (2 Top Picks are in BOLD) having $2 WIN pay-off of $10.60 (1st race), $3.00 (2nd), $4.80 (4th) and $6.40 (7th).
- BEST BET of the Day (87: 23-21-14) Velocious (5th race: 3-1 M/L; 9-5 PT) took early position just off the flank of the early leader (and eventual winner) for the first 7 furlongs then gradually faded to finish 7th.
- LONGSHOT PLAY OF THE DAY (81: 11-9-16) Will n’ Pat (1st race: 6-1 M/L; 5-1 PT) raced three deep on both turns, in a perfect stalking position but the speed bias of the Timonium bull ring showed up making any late rally fruitless as he ran on to complete the Superfecta.
