At the Timonium Fair Grounds ALL RACES are contested on a 5/8 mile dirt oval. Forecast for the northern Baltimore suburb on FRIDAY is for partly cloudy skies with temps in the mid-80’s and a 40% chance of scattered showers. Therefore, I rolled the dice handicapping this card based on the track condition being FAST.
Race 1
- #5 – Will n’ Pat (6-1): $Longshot Play$ Was 2 for 50 before Doran took over & has won 1 of 3 since
- #1/1A – Amelia Rose/ Flashy Eyed Pearl (9-5): Both fit Non-Winner in 2015 condition nicely
- #6 – Chase My Tail (3-1): Bet on steep drop but stumbled; claimed by Magee who’s 32% 1st after claim
Race 2
- #3 – Linda’s Lollipop (6-5): Heavily bet 7 days ago here & missed by a neck; won’t have EZ lead
- #6 – Just Funnin’ Ya (15-1): Could take advantage of leg weary foes in final strides; last 2 not bad
- #4 – Miss Edmunds (15-1): 1 for 1 @ Big T when broke maiden at this distance; live off the shelf?
Race 3
- #5 – Mr. Lit (3-1): Should get early lead w/o much pressure, saving some to hold off fav. late
- #2 – Improvised Brush (7-5): Tim Ice shipping to The Big T? I’d claim this one if I could!
- #1 – Protect N Serve (12-1): Cartagena takes over from 0 for 65 trainer; like recent 3f work
Race 4
- #3 – Crazy About Him (9-5): Trainer Ness 27% w/ Turf-to-dirt angle; likely quickest from gate
- #1 – Hug a Tree (12-1): Last win came from the #1 post; Dunkelberger major upgrade in the irons
- #2 – Secret Garden (2-1): OTB in only 4f effort; usually needs more ground to get the win
Race 5
- #7 – Velocious (3-1): *Best Bet* Fresh off N2L win albeit on synthetic @ Pid; future looks bright
- #4 – Flash Heart (5-2): Hard to trust (0 for 12) at distance w/ 7 2nd’s; slop/mud would help
- #5 – Wildly Leaks (9-2): Bug Boy needs to move earlier w/ this Closer due to short stretch
Race 6
- #5 –Flatter’s Secret (5-2): Nice win last outing for open $15k going 7f; better (2 for 3) going long
- #3 – Baby Situation (6-1): Has done well at this level in the past; won lone try over Tim oval
- #6 – Proud Vixen (2-1): Has best lifetime Brisnet# of this bunch & earned it at this distance
Race 7
- #3 – Sweet Steppin (6-1): Fired a bullet (:48) in recent work; no worse for wear after mishap in last
- #4 – Ayyoh (2-1): 5th track in as many starts; no worse than 2nd; always well-backed (9-5 or less)
- #5 – Awesome Ghost (5-1): Ships in from Mth; didn’t come for the R5 and Bea Miller concert
Race 8
- #7 – Dor (5-1): Lost all chance at start of most recent, ran on late; has big shot w/ a clean start
- #4 – Ripplz (12-1): Major class relieve and more distance gives him a shot to graduate here
- #5 – Unbridledrebellion (9-2): 2-turns in a bull ring might be just what the doctor ordered
YESTERDAY’S NEWS
- Sunday August 30th, Race Day 3 of the MD State Fair meet at Timonium was a ChalkFest while having 7 winners from 9 races (2 Top Picks are in BOLD) having $2 WIN pay-off of $3.00 (1st race), $3.40 (3rd), $4.20 (4th), $7.20 (5th), $5.40 (6th), $3.60 (7th) and $5.40 (9th). Of the suggested multi-race wagers hit the $2 DOUBLE in R3-R4 for $9.00 (cost: $18) and $2 DOUBLE in R5-R6 for $31.60 (cost: $18).
- BEST BET of the Day (86: 23-21-14) Really Blue Moon (2nd race: 3-1 M/L; 8-5 PT) away a bit awkwardly, was hustled up to contention soon after, forced the pace three wide under solid coaxing, failed to go on in upper stretch and faded.
- LONGSHOT PLAY OF THE DAY (80: 11-9-16) Ima Wildcat (6th race: 5-1 M/L; 9-5 PT) away alertly, gave hard pursuit of the winner while two to three wide and kept on willingly while well clear of the rest to be runner-up returning $3.20 to PLACE and $2.80 to SHOW.
