Forecast for the northern D.C. suburbs on Friday is for Mostly Sunny skies with temps in the low-80’s and no chance of rain. Therefore, the below selections in are based on those race being run ON the TURF.

Race 1

  1. #7 – Sweet Visionary (6-5): Twice beaten favorite continues to drop; 3rd time a charm?
  2. #6 – Zillions (3-1): Broke maiden in 19th try, but it was a major turnaround in form off layoff
  3. #1 – Empowering Force (6-1): Steep drop is appropriate after recent efforts; front wraps help?                 

 

Race 2

  1. #3 – Solly’s Mischief (8-1): $Longshot Play$ Cartagena been doing a lot w/ very little this meet
  2. #1 – Bake Shop (5-1): 2nd start for Farro after reclaim; was game w/ excuse last outing          
  3. #8 – Sacred Ground (9-2): At age 8 and 61 starts, deserves class break; not through yet

  2. #3 – Thunders Fury (10-1): Troubled trips in last 2 + gutty rally 3 back + Boyce = huge shot
  3. #10 – Mule Theory (15-1): Gotta believe he improves off nice dirt sprint v. quality maidens

  1. #3 – Flyingtobechilders (6-1): Always gives 110% on Laurel grass; will be flying late
  2. #4 – Chief Exchanger (12-1): Been an Also-Ran in 2015 v. better; posted best fig @ Lrl
  3. #10 – A P Elvis (3-1): Got 1st win in over 2 years w/ addition of Blinkers; can repeat

  1. #1 – Cross Match (5-1): Appropriate drop; X-Man needs to hustle her quickly at the break
  2. #7 – Elusive Snack (3-1): Strange claim out of debut when 66-1, but doing well since               
  3. #2 – Fairbanks Kiss (7-2): How bad is the competition when you’re 0 for 36 and 3rd choice?

  • On Sunday August 16th at Laurel had 6 winners from 8 races (2 Top Picks are in BOLD) having $2 WIN pay-off of $7.20 (1st race), $6.20 (2nd), $7.40 (3rd), $5.80 (4th), $4.60 (5th) and $7.60 (6th). Of the suggested wagers hit $2 DOUBLE in R1-R2 for $24.20 (cost: $18).
  • BEST BET of the Day (80: 20-20-14) Backyard Boogie (1st race: 3-1 M/L; 7-2 PT) rushed up to make the early lead, set the pace in the two path and weakened late but was able to salvage 3rd returning $3.80 to SHOW.
  • LONGSHOT PLAY OF THE DAY (74: 11-7-15) Sweet Chant (8th race: 12-1 M/L; 16-1 PT) saved ground, edged closer under rating mid turn, came under pressure soon into the lane, gave hard chase past the eighth pole and came up empty finishing 4th.
