Forecast for the D.C. suburbs on Saturday is for Mostly Cloudy skies with temps near 90 and 50% chance of scattered showers. Regardless, the below selections in those races are based on the belief they will be run ON the TURF.

  • On Friday July 17th at Laurel had just 2 winners from 8 races having $2 WIN pay-off of $4.20 (1st race) and $4.00 (7th).
  • The BEST BET of the Day (68: 15-17-12) Whisky Rock (6th race: 3-1 M/L; 2-1 PT) cleared early, set a rated pace two wide, was collared inside the furlong grounds and kept on gamely to finish second returning $4.00 to PLACE and $2.80 to SHOW.
  • The LONGSHOT PLAY OF THE DAY (61: 11-6-12) Gator Boy (7th race: 8-1 M/L; 8-1 PT) raced inside horses around the turn and rallied mildly to finish third, just 2¾ lengths behind the winner to return $3.40 to SHOW.
