* Laurel Park has four (4) races (4th, 5th, 6th, 8th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the D.C. suburbs on Saturday is for 50% chance of Scattered Thunderstorms in the early A.M. then drops to 20% chance of rain with temps in the low 80’s during racing hours. Even with this “iffy” forecast, the below selections in those races are based on the belief they will be run ON the TURF.

Race 1

  1. #8 – Christmas Barn (8-5): Track had Speed Bias on Friday, if same today he’s a winner
  2. #4 – Best From Here (7-2): Actually 2nd best from my viewpoint; likes Lrl (8: 2-2-0)
  3. #3 – Piper’s Punch (8-1): 1 of 2 career wins came here, cut back to 5½f helps

Race 2

  1. #1 – He’s Achance (6-1): *Best Bet* 3rd off layoff angle; lone speed stretching out

Race 3

  1. #2 – Split (5-2): Speightstown babies have been precocious; nice 5f bullet from gate @ Fai
  2. #7 – Grecian Prince (3-1): 2 race veteran been runner-up in both; adds Lasix
  3. #5 – Ayyoh (2-1): Only other one w/ race under his belt; just missed @ Mth when 8-5

* Race 4

  1. #1 – Roxbury Rocket (9-5): Nice claim for D. Capuano; must overcome rail assignment
  2. #7 – Tidewater (20-1): 2nd best Brisnet turf # (best is #14 on AE) but winless since ‘13
  3. #8 – Middle Jewel (8-1): OTB in only 2 turf tries but were against much better

* Race 5

* Race 6

  1. #9 – Coturnix (6-1): 7 y.o. w/ 10 wins from 25 starters is always in the mix
  2. #3 – Captain’s Affair (3-1): Slowly climbing class ladder; never runs a bad one
  3. #7 – Super Chunky (10-1): 9 y.o. may still have “it”; 3 for 7 on Lrl grass
