* Pimlico Race Course have five (5) races (3rd, 4th, 6th, 9th, 11th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. The forecast for the Baltimore metropolitan area on Saturday is for Partly Sunny skies with high temps near 80 with 50% chance of scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon. Considering it’s Closing Day at Pimlico, one would hope that MJC keeps the scheduled turf races ON the TURF. The below selections were made on the belief that races will be run ON the TURF.

Race 1

  1. #7 – Buzzworthy (1-1): Runner-up on drop to this level in last outing; Adds Blinkers
  2. #8 – Riding the Tide (10-1): Head scratching steep drop after just 3 races at $25k, 2 on turf
  3. #1/1A – Not for Fun/Richard’s Gold (6-1): #1A showed promise at this level, until most recent

Race 2

  1. #2 – White Bay (5-2): *Best Bet* Distant 3rd to former Belmont Stakes probable runner
  2. #6 – On Spirit River (3-1): Eye-popping maiden score @ Tam; disliked slop @ Del?
  3. #1 – Team Tim (7-2): A stalking trip in here could have him repeat maiden effort

* Race 3

  1. #6 – Cluain Meala (9-5): 3rd off layoff follows nice try as lukewarm choice
  2. #2 – Issheit (7-5): Outlasted top pick in last outing; questionable going xtra 1/16th
  3. #3 – Proper Heiress (6-1): Encountered traffic in past two @ Pim, ITM in both

* Race 4

  1. #1 – Barney Rebel (2-1): Very game in both Pim turf tries; faces same crew
  2. #4 – Soul of the Moon (15-1): Woke-up in maiden steeplechase events; may translate
  3. #2 – Annawon (6-1): Candidate to love added distance on Pim turf he won on 3 back

Race 5

  1. #8 – Bourbon Man (5-2): Underlay due to trainer gaudy stats at meet (39%)
  2. #6 – Puturseatbelton (6-1):Full of run off the bench; runner-up to a good one
  3. #7 – Viva La Vista (20-1): Look beyond the recent troubled trips, he has a shot

* Race 6

  1. #6 – Duke of Perth (5-2): Can claim best Brisnet# on turf, but offered for $20k v. $25k
  2. #2 – With Expression (9-5): Made massive middle move last outing but settled for 2nd
  3. #5 – La Reine’s Gem (10-1): Scratched from Friday race when taken off turf; can repeat

Race 7

  1. #3 – Joseph (7-2): Carrasco/Jenkins combo 4 for 5 at Pim meet; FTS appears “live”

Race 8

  1. #7 – Keys Garboy (6-1): New barn via claim ambitiously placed her 1st off claim, fits here

  3. #11 – Home Spun Gal (7-2): Not the best of trips recently, multiple class drop helps chances

* Race 9

  1. #6 – Silver Rock (9-5): Needs an honest early pace to close into in deep stretch
  2. #7 – Balthazar (12-1): 1st off claim for Robinson; was beaten fav.; could be a Sleeper
