[su_heading size=”21″ align=”left”]Analysis[/su_heading]

* Pimlico Race Course has four (4) races (3rd, 5th, 7h, 9th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. The forecast for the Baltimore metropolitan area on Thursday is for Mostly Cloudy skies with high temps in the low 80s with 30-45% chance of rain in the afternoon. Unfortunately, with area receiving 4-5 inches of rain thus far this week, MJC made it an early call to take races OFF the TURF.  Therefore, selections below in those races reflect being run on a FAST main track.

Race 1

  1. #5 – How About Peace (9-2): Toss the distance turf try; was runner-up at this level 2 back
  2. #2 – Special Congrats (5-1): Drops a level & back to sprinting, a successful move in the past
  3. #3 – Maybrys Challenge (5-2): Reclaimed by Ness w/ 2 bullet drills, could steal it on the front end

Race 2

  1. #4 – Overthespeedlimit (3-1): One of two A. Dutrow runners on today’s card; 2+ class drop
  2. #1 – Prince Leroi (8-5): Over his head in recent race; Magee (38%) having the meet of his career
  3. #7 – Ghostly Games (6-1): Ambitious class jump fresh off Bernardini claim; ITM in all 4 ’15 races

* Race 3

  1. #5 – Hold the Thunder (6-1): Admirable dirt races at higher class level
  2. #4 – Stomp an Go (8-1): Should be on the lead; runner-up in last, 7 clear of 3rd
  3. #3 – Einstein’s Theory (12-1): 0 for 14, but 5: 0-1-2 on main fast oval

Race 4

  1. #3 – Find Joy (3-1): *Best Bet* Lynch/Bisono in from Prx just for this one
  2. #1/1A – Walliflower/Scoff (8-5): Both are only ones in here w/ a race under their belt
  3. #8 – First to Fire (6-1): Connections are always high on their FTS in spite of 9% win pct.

* Race 5

  1. #5 – Jar of Hearts (5-2): Might have a better shot running on dirt than turf
  2. #1 – Nour Iayoun (12-1): Nice late run in 2015 debut; should improve off that effort
  3. #6 – Huamantla (12-1): Tam shippers have done well; should be on the early lead

Race 6

  1. #6 – Outwithbigdaddy (12-1): $Longshot Play$ Speedy as a 2 y.o.; nice work tab for 3 y.o. debut
  2. #3 – Clockstrucktwelve (2-1): Impressive late run & Brisnet# (80) in debut to get 3rd
  3. #4 – Star Eighty (9-2): Adds Blinkers for 3rd career race after failing as fav. w/ an excuse

* Race 7

  1. #12 – Tough Weather (8-5): MTO is likely choice if run on fast or off track
  2. #8 – Louisa Girl (4-1): MTO has nice speed figs & fast track record (13: 4-2-2)
  3. #4 – Chesapeake Spring (10-1): Strong contender if track comes up “off”

Race 8

  1. #2 – Embellish the Lace (7-5): Huge effort in Dec. maiden score; off since then, nice works
  2. #3 – Great Start (9-2): Stretches out to 2-turns for 1st time in 6-race career, should like it
  3. #5 – Jersey Jules (5-2): Overmatched in Prx Oaks; 2nd choice vulnerable going long

* Race 9

  1. #6 – Magician’s Vanity (10-1): Has best Brisnet# on a fast track among these
  2. #1 – Love’s Illusion (5-2): Ran a respectable 3rd in debut sprinting in mud; Add Blinkers
  3. #11 – Secret Diary (12-1): With numerous scratches, she could go gate-2-wire

  • The LONGSHOT PLAY OF THE DAY (53: 7-6-12) Distiller (9th race: 8-1 M/L; 2-1 PT) to take a line from CD Handicapper Jill Byrne, “I don’t pick favorites, I MAKE favorites!” as the betting public jumped on this one pounding him early & often, sending him off as the PT favorite showed speed along the rail, came out a bit after bobbling entering the turn, dueled inside DEVILSH GAIT through the stretch and narrowly prevailed and survived an objection to retain the win and return $6.80 to WIN, $3.60 to PLACE and $3.60 to SHOW.
