* Pimlico Race Course had four (4) races (3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Even though the forecast for the Baltimore metropolitan area on Friday is for Mostly Sunny skies with high temp in the low 70’s, rain yesterday and overnight led to decision to take these races OFF the TURF.

Race 1

  1. #3 – Move Over Honey (1-1): Trombetta wins w/ 34% of his “Fire Sale” runners
  2. #6 – Middletown Gal (6-1): Blinkers Off; 1st time stretching out; could steal it
  3. #1 – Mimipaoponchis (9-2): Speed figs in last 3 consistent to be right there

Race 2

  1. #3 – Raven Alexa (5-1): No other early speed in here; chance for a McCarthy “Riding DBL”
  2. #7 – Smooth Approach (6-1): Exits N2Y while foes, except M/L fav. failed at N1Y in last
  3. #1 – Galadriel Lady (6-5): Speed figs tower over rivals in here; but not the same since claim

* Race 3 – OFF TURF

  1. #7 – Dreaming of Bella (4-5): Ness continues to have “Golden Touch” w/ this MTO runner
  2. #4 – Tidewater (20-1): CT shipper can take advantage of pace meltdown… if one happens
  3. #6 – Kobuk Valley (10-1): A stalking trip would be advisable here; should still run on dirt

Race 4

  1. #6 – Stonebriar (7-2): Cuts back to sprint; too good to still be a maiden
  2. #5 – What Quality (10-1): Speed and faltered in debut going 6f; gate to wire candidate
  3. #7 – Field Sense (6-1): Debut a disaster (bad start; wide) but got an education for today

* Race 5 – OFF TURF

  1. #6 – Winning Saga (5-1): Very quick from the gate on dirt; will be tough to catch
  2. #3 – Litigious (6-1): Magee has had magic touch w/1st off claims (wins at 33% clip)
  3. #1/1A – Jitterbug/Mendassity (7-2): On dirt likely odds on PT fav. even if #1A scratches

Race 6

  1. #1 – Hero’s Notion (7-2): *Best Bet* Has best speed fig among this group; nabs early speed
  2. #8 – Gottcha Bob (2-1): Can repeat last race performance as Monterrey signs back on
  3. #5 – Puturseatbelton (12-1): Away since Dec.; like two works; nuts for backing Betancourt?!

* Race 7 – OFF TURF

  1. #9 – Discreet Aria (10-1): $Longhost Play$ Blks Off; dirt debut & nice bullet makes her a threat
  2. #12 – Real Strike (20-1): Understand she’s bred for turf, but blazes 3f in A.M. on dirt
  3. #7 – Chump Change (2-1): Game 2nd to nice turf sprinter in the making; should run on dirt

* Race 8 – OFF TURF

  1. #14 – Wicked Heat (7-2): One of just a few in here w/ a win on dirt
  2. #3  – Counting Days (5-1): Could be a Potts Exacta; this guy has taken to Pim turf/dirt
  3. #9 – Tazmanian Charlie (15-1): Asking a lot to stretch out from 5f, but bred to get distance

Race 9

  1. #4 – Mast Cove (5-2): Picks up pieces in deep stretch as others don’t have the heart to win
  2. #6 – Mellow Mei Mei (3-1): Could cap off a very successful day for McCarthy & Ness
  3. #3 – Pennie My Love (6-1): 1 for 25 but 1 for 5 at Pim w/ a 2nd & 3rd; a Horse 4 Course?
