* Pimlico Race Course has three (3) races (5th, 7th & 9th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the Baltimore metropolitan area on Sunday is for Partlly Sunny skies with high temp near 80. The below selections in those races are based on the belief they will be run ON the TURF.

Race 1

  1. #2 – Dancing Night (8-5): Any improvement in 2nd career start should get it done     
  2. #1 – Vista Rides Tall (7-2): 2nd start for Potts West Coast import; needs alert start            
  3. #3 – Jacobystrikesagain (12-1): If CT shipper gets to the front he could be tough to catch       

Race 2

  1. #2 – Naevia (2-1): Cartagena does very well 2nd after claim (46%)    
  2. #3 – Just a Wildflower (6-1): Can compete at this level; needs smart ride    
  3. #5 – Arrow Flynn (9-5): Suspicious drop for mare making just 2nd start in 11 mos.   

 

Race 3

  1. #5 – Silver Legend (1-1): 5 y.o. gelding looks solid in this spot for Magee
  2. #3 – Pushin’ On (20-1): Horse for Course angle? 2 for 2 at Old Hilltop
  3. #4 – Cay to Pomeroy (7-2): Won/claimed from Nevin on steep drop; will push fav.     

 

Race 4

  1. #2 – Fifty Two (7-5): Lightly raced 4 y.o. nice claim by McMahon; beaten fav.         
  2. #3 – Bret’s At Caddies (2-1): Seems to have “Second-itis”; 1 for 20, runner-up 9x     
  3. #4 – Blame Me (20-1): If sprinting is his game, then he’s got a shot v. this group          

 

*Race 5

  1. #8 – Morethanbeautiful (10-1): 2nd start for More Than Ready filly; encouraging debut
  2. #4 – Lagrats (9-5): Has best Brisnet turf fig among this group; beaten fav. last 3  
  3. #2 – Scatajawea (6-1): Wants distance and should improve off turf debut         

 

Race 6

  1. #7 – Overnight Fling (6-1): 1 for 47; 0 for 32 on dirt; So yes, I must be F’n crazy!
  2. #3 – Proulette (5-1): Needs more aggressive ride to get up going 5½f
  3. #5 – Holier Than Thou (9-2): On back class should roll, but Barr 0 for 7 w/ steep droppers        

 

*Race 7

  1. #3 – Cursive (5-1): *Best Bet* 3 y.o. facing elders but bred to like the turf
  2. #8 – Shining America (5-1): Won’t get these odds coming off GP turf score in open co.  
  3. #1 – Deputy Fancy (12-1): Has tried to get on grass in the past; might like it         

 

Race 8 

  1. #6 – Lionhearted Lady (9-2): 1st start of ’15; usually goes long but 2: 1-1-0 sprinting
  2. #5 – Eddy Gourmet (2-1): Going long obviously isn’t for her; back in comfort zone
  3. #3 – Jonesin for Jerry (6-1): Better than she’s recently shown; think don’t like Off Track

*Race 9 

  1. #3 – New Yawker (12-1): $Longshot Play$ back class on grass & 3:2-1-0 on Pim turf   
  2. #6 – Saintly Feeling (7-2): “Magee the Magician” tries to work his 1st off claim magic (31%)   
  3. #9 – Jonestown Jonesy (2-1): Based on past turf tries, really not jumping in class off last

  • On Saturday, May 9th at Pimlico had 6 winners from 9 races (3 Top Pick payoff in BOLD) having $2 WIN pay-off of $4.60 (1st race), $5.00 (2nd), $12.40 (4th), $9.40 (5th), $5.80 (8th) and $3.80 (9th). Of the suggested Multi-Race wagers hit R1-R2 DOUBLE for $18.00 (cost of ticket $18) and R8-R9 DOUBLE for $15.00 (cost of ticket $12).
  • The BEST BET of the Day (50: 12-13-8) Redheaded Stranger (4th race: 4-1 M/L; 7-5 PT) stalked the pace three wide, was ridden along chasing past the five sixteenths and kept on willingly to hold down the place returning $3.00 to PLACE and $2.80 to SHOW.
  • The LONGSHOT PLAY OF THE DAY (44: 6-5-12) Don’s Girl (4th race: 5-1 M/L; 3-5 PT) some LSPOD huh?! Everyone seemed to jump on this 2 y.o. but forgot to tell her to keep running to the wire after getting the early lead. She weakened in the final furlong to salvage 3rd and return $2.60 to SHOW.
