* Pimlico Race Course has five (5) races (3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th & 11th) scheduled to be run on the TURF. Forecast for the Baltimore metropolitan area on Friday is for Partly Sunny skies with high temp near 70s. The below selections in those races are based on the belief they will be run ON the TURF.

Race 1

  1. #1 – Raven Alexa (8-1): Can win second straight if left loose on the lead     
  2. #4 – Wildcat Honey (3-1): 30 starts yet only one time going distance and won it            
  3. #7 – Chance Encounter (8-5): Turf try after claim didn’t work; trainer 1 for 44 in ‘15     

Race 2

  1. #4 – Indy Sea (5-2): Jacobson looking to unload and/or steal a purse    
  2. #2 – Majestic Number (3-1): In 4th new barn in past 5 races
  3. #1 – Pledge of Truth (6-1): Has found his niche’… competing at $5k level

  1. #1 – Relentless Move (5-2): Best turf speed figure came here a year ago
  2. #5 – Tyjar (20-1): Makes turf debut w/ decent rider and bloodlines for grass

  1. #8 – Pram (20-1): $Longshot Play$ 4 y.o. v 3’s for great turf barn; 1st Lasix & 1st race since Nov.; love the 6-7f works
  2. #7 – Portwenn (20-1): She’s bred to go long of grass; gets chance in 4th career start    
  3. #5 – MacArthur Parkway (6-1): Has highest Brisnet number on turf among this group       

 

Race 6

  1. #7 – Grace (6-1): Does well at this level; 3 for 3 ITM @ Pim; turf to dirt angle        
  2. #4 – Tracy’s Turn (5-1): Has figured it out stepping up class ladder; 3: 2-0-1 at dist.  
  3. #3 – Seething (12-1): Barely qualifies for this Starter event; needs quick pace

  1. #8 – Cluain Meala (7-2): *Best Bet* Does well for Boyce on turf; nice stalking trip is in order        
  2. #2 – Cross Mountain (8-1): nice effort last outing v. top pick; should improve  
  3. #6 – Easter Service (8-1): …about a month late, had freshener sprinting off layoff

  1. #5 – White Bay (7-5): Took time off to regroup; must respect McGaughey runners
  2. #8 – What Quality (6-1): Quality Road FTS for Trombetta has nice work tab
  3. #4 – Dunne Hall (9-2): PTK owns many horses, but TC nominated this one. Hmmm

  1. #5 – Barney Rebel (9-2):  Came out firing on all cylinders off layoff; can repeat   
  2. #9 – I Am the King (4-1): Loves this distance (9: 5-1-1) and Pim sod (2: 1-1-0)      
  3. #1 – Foolish Tiger(15-1): 7 y.o. may have needed one; threat at a price

Race 10

  1. #1/1A – Truth in the Lies/Jammin With Jamie (3-1): Formidable entry; like either one    
  2. #3 – Killin Them Softly (6-1): Speedy sorts stumbled and lost rider last outing  
  3. #6 – Lin Marie (15-1): Blinkers Off; Boyce stays is a good sign   

*Race 11

  1. #9 – Steelway Lady (12-1): Others in here Boyce normally would ride, lands here
  2. #3 – Secret Or Not (8-1): Away since Dec.; ITM both turf tries, one a minor stakes  
  3. #6 – Jealous Cat (8-1): Well backed in debut @ GP but only showed some interest

  • On Friday, May 1st at Pimlico had just 4 winners from 10 races having $2 WIN pay-off of $7.20 (1st race), $3.00 (4th), $7.20 (8th) and $21.80 (9th).
  • The BEST BET of the Day (45: 12-11-7) Angel Clarence O (6th race: 7-2 M/L; 5-2 PT) circled the turn four deep, was in a striking position turning for home, remained on his left lead and weakened late to salvage 3rd returning $3.00 to SHOW.
  • The LONGSHOT PLAY OF THE DAY (39: 6-4-11) Vim (8th race: 10-1 M/L; 5-1 PT) and finished with interest to finish 3rd and $5.40 to SHOW.
