The 34th edition of Jim McKay Maryland Million Day will take place on Saturday, October 19 at Laurel Park.

Over 22,000 people were in attendance to enjoy the 2018 renewal of Maryland’s Day at the Races, which featured races for eligible Maryland-sired horses. Wagering topped $6.4 million, which is the highest it has been since 2007.

Fan favorite Crabcakes (Great Notion) took the Maryland Million Distaff H. for the second year in a row, and My Sistersledge (Etched) was a repeat winner in the Maryland Million Ladies S. A win by Saratoga Bob (Friesan Fire) in the Maryland Million Classic S. for Wayne Harrison, Bob Manfuso and Katy Voss was icing on the cake for a quintessentially-Maryland day.

In addition to a great day of racing, fans participated in the Maryland Million Day Hat Contest and enjoyed family-friendly activities both on and off the track. The day also included Clubhouse Fest, a one-day music festival featuring Steve Aoki.

“Jim McKay Maryland Million Day is a great day of racing that showcases Maryland horses,” says Cricket Goodall, executive director of Maryland Million Ltd. “It is our annual fall celebration for owners, trainers and breeders – and welcomes both dedicated and new fans to Laurel Park. It is our day to shine and we look forward to making it another great event on October 19th!”

Jim McKay Maryland Million Day features races for Maryland-sired horses with purses and awards of more than $1 million. A diverse crowd of fans, industry professionals, and elected officials flock to Laurel Park each autumn to enjoy this competitive day of racing and a variety of other on-and-off-track activities.
