Delaware Park has a solid eight-race card on the docket for Thursday, August 2. Post time for the card is 1:15 p.m., and here are some horses to watch:

Race 7 – Allowance/optional claiming

  • Three-year-olds and up will go six furlongs on the main track in a first-level allowance with an optional claiming tag of $12,500.
  • Trainer Aimee Hall has a small stable — her runners have made just 13 starts this year — but at least one of those horses looks like he might be a runner. #2 Odds On (8-1) began his career with back-to-back runner-up efforts before graduating last out in his third career start. The sophomore Despite the Odds gelding set a solid pace before going on to a length-and-change victory that day, and the runner-up from that race, Gnarly, returned to lose by just a nose versus Laurel Park maidens in his follow-up. Hall will leg up the productive Augusto Marin for the mount.
  • Selections: 2-1-3

Race 8 – Allowance/optional claiming

  • Three-year-olds and up will go 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf in a first-level allowance with an optional claiming price of $20,000.
  • Just over a year ago, #9 Convivial (7-2) won at first asking on the turf at Monmouth Park. A year, and five races, later, he still has just the one win. The son of English Channel, who’s a half-brother to multiple graded stakes winner Force the Pass, was an even sixth last out after being rank early and wide on both turns. Show horse Belfour returned to win an off-the-turf allowance at Laurel. In his second off a break, and third with blinkers, this one retains the right to improve here. Trainer Alan Goldberg will leg up Edwin Rivera, and that duo has accounted for three wins from 12 starts in the last two months.
  • Selections: 9-7-2-1
