Saturday morning’s edition of Off to the Races on The Racing Biz Radio Network is set to feature trainer John Servis and Virginia Equine Alliance executive director Jeb Hannum..The program airs at 10:00 a.m. over terrestrial radio on ESPN Richmond (VA) — 950 AM, 99.5 FM, and 102.7 FM — and via internet streaming.

The show will air every Saturday morning from February 10 through July 21.

“Each week, we hope to bring our listeners some of the most interesting guests in racing,” said Frank Vespe, publisher of The Racing Biz and host of the show. “We’re looking to keep our listeners abreast of the latest and best stories in the region.”

On Saturday’s show:

  • John Servis, Parx Racing-based trainer. Servis, who conditioned Smarty Jones to win two legs — and nearly all three — of the Triple Crown, has been off to a remarkable start thus far in 2018, winning with 20 of 62 starters to date, including a score in the Grade 2 Barbara Fritchie with Ms. Locust Point.
  • Jeb Hannum, executive director of the Virginia Equine Alliance. His group spearheaded the efforts to pass “historic horse racing” in Virginia; he’ll talk about what that can mean for the future of racing in the Commonwealth.
  • Derby Bill Watson and Nick Hahn will be on hand to handicap Gulfstream Park’s huge card featuring the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth — the second stop in that track’s sequence of three-year-old races pointing at the Triple Crown.

The weekly, one-hour show will focus on Thoroughbred racing and breeding around the mid-Atlantic region and across the country.
