Delaware Park to race 81 days in 2018
From a Delaware Park release
Delaware Park and the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (DTHA) have signed a one-year extension to their existing agreement ensuring 81 days of live racing at Delaware Park in 2018.
“I am pleased and excited to announce the signing of this extension for the 2018 race meet,” said Kevin DeLucia, Senior Vice-President of Racing/Finance at Delaware Park.
“We have worked hard to provide exciting racing in the highly competitive Mid-Atlantic region by attracting quality horsemen to Delaware. Having the stability and certainty moving into next season will help us continue the positive momentum we have established over the last few years.”
D. Scott Peck, President of the Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, reinforced the sentiment of continuity.
“The Delaware Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association is glad to extend the current contract and offer stability to our horsemen,” said DTHA President, D. Scott Peck. “This gives us the assurance needed to plan ahead, knowing that we will be racing 81 days again in 2018 and the stable area will open for training March 1st and be closing December 31, 2018.”
Race dates and the stakes schedule will be released in January upon approval from the Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission.
