Saratoga’s ninth race Wednesday is the Grade 2 Honorable Miss Handicap for fillies and mares three years old and upward.

A $200,000, six-furlong sprint on the dirt, the Honorable Miss features only five entries, with the oldest among them, a six-year-old mare, being Disco Chick. Bred in Pennsylvania by Jerry Kolybabiuk Yaroslaw, who also owns her, Disco Chick is not a stranger to The Spa, having run third in the Honorable Miss just last year. That day, the jockey-trainer combo was Trevor McCarthy and Mario Serey, Jr.

Today, the combo of Hector Caballero and Miguel Penaloza look to build off a victory in the Regret Stakes at Monmouth Park just ten days ago. This quick turnaround for Disco Chick may make her second try in the Honorable Miss more difficult, but if she can continue to improve on a solid 2017, she’ll have a fighting shot. Disco Chick is by Jump Start-Disco Flirt, by Disco Rico and has morning line odds of 12/1.
