The Maryland Horse Breeders Association, Fasig-Tipton Midlantic, and Maryland Jockey Club will cohost a two-hour “Yearling Sale 101” seminar Saturday, August 20 in the International Room at Laurel Park.

The seminar will start at 11:00 a.m. and go to 1:00 p.m., kicking off a day of live racing focused on Maryland-breds.  The second annual “Maryland Pride Day” card will include two stakes, the Mister Diz and the Jameela.

The seminar is free to attend, but those wishing to do so must RSVP online.  You can learn more by clicking here.

The seminar, intended to be the first of a series, will provide advice on why to buy at auction versus other options, how to buy at auction, and other matters.  It will also address the role of different players in the auction process: the sales company, the seller, the buyer, and the buyer’s advisor.

Expert panelists will include Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sales director Paget Bennett; consignor Bill Reightler; Andrew Motion of Old Chapel Farm; and Patrick Lawley-Wakelin of Lawley-Wakelin Bloodstock.  There is expected to be plenty of time for Q & A and audience participation.

Frank Vespe of The Racing Biz will moderate the panel.
