My Meadowview Farm LLC’s Tin Type Gal sat near the back of the pack early, found room on the rail turning for home and out gamed Galileo’s Song to the wire to capture the Grade 3 Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday by a neck.

With Trevor McCarthy piloting, the duo covered the mile and an eighth in 1:47 3/5 and paid $5.80, $3.20 and $2.40 in the field of eight 3-year-old fillies. Galileo’s Song completed the $15.60 exacta and paid $2.80 and $2.10 as the favorite. It was another 2 ¼ lengths back to Verbouwen, who paid $2.40 to show.

“She is a classy filly,” said winning trainer H. Graham Motion. “She was toward the back today, but she wasn’t too far. It was a great ride by Trevor.”

“She popped out of the gate well and I just wanted to get her comfortable,” said McCarthy. “She settled nicely near the back. I got a little anxious turning for home, but when the spot opened at the rail she just shot through there. I tapped her on the shoulder just a couple of times and every time I asked her she just gave me more. She sure showed her class today.”

A daughter of Tapit from the Grade 1 winning mare Miss Shop, Tin Type Gal has won three of her five outings, good for earnings of $233,199.
