YESTERDAY’S NEWS: BOWMAN’S BEAST IS BEST

For a horse that’s never placed in, much less won, a stake, Bowman’s Beast has cobbled together a pretty nice career, winning nine times from 33 starts and amassing almost $340,000 in earnings.

Yesterday at Parx Racing, under jockey Roberto Alvarado, Jr., the seven-year-old Patricia Farro trainee rallied from the back of the pack to pip 3-5 favorite Souper Lucky at the wire in the day’s featured, $60,000 open allowance going a mile.  Edge of Reality finished third, another 1 1/2 lengths back.

It was the first start in 2016 for Bowman’s Beast.

Bobcat made a dazzling debut at Laurel Park yesterday.  The three-year-old Orientate gelding thrashed a maiden special weight field by 10 lengths under jockey Jevian Toledo, who later won the Ben’s Cat Stakes aboard Sonny Inspired.  The Dale Capuano trainee was bred by Mr. and Mrs. Charles McGinnes, who also bred Sonny Inspired.  Running time for the six furlongs was a solid 1:12.56 over a good, sealed track.
