Equine herpesvirus (EHV-1) has hit Parx Racing, multiple trainers told The Racing Biz this morning.

One of those trainers, not based at Parx, had planned to ship a horse to the Bensalem, PA track today.  He said he had received a call this morning from the Parx racing office, informing him of the positive test.

A report in the Daily Racing Form said that a 2-year-old filly had tested positive for the infectious disease, leading to a quarantine of the barn area.  As of 10:55 a.m., the track had not indicated any next steps publicly available sources.

Saturday’s feature was slated to be the $150,000, six-furlong Roamin’ Rachel Stakes for fillies and mares three-years-old and up.

Parx Director of Racing Sam Elliott could not immediately be reached for comment.
